Mario Botta

He drew his first house when sixteen and he never stopped.

Mario Botta’s style is noticeable by a remarkable pragmatism and the creation of a strong and geometric architectural space, often covered with bricks or stone. Pure volumes buildings pierced by large cracks.

First works with his signatures are some single-family houses located in the canton of Ticino, Switzerland and then his work has embraced the path of different building types: schools, banks, office buildings, libraries, museums and religious buildings. Incontestable list of public buildings, gone in the world, bear Mario Botta’s signature.
